Bom dia,

Hi Experts,
I know that there is PLink which allows to use command line to SSH.
I also know there is Invoke-Script which allows you to run a script inside of the VM.
The issue with both of these for my needs is that the VM is question does not have Tools installed (cannot presumably) and is not SSH'able. (Linux VM)
Is there a way for me to interact with the VM other than these two methods? Ideally the VM would not need to be networked prior and I can connect to something like a console via script where I can manipulate inside the guest.
Thank you for any suggestions if its even possible
I recently set up Hypervisor 6.5 on an external hard drive and downloaded the most recent vsphere client. I am getting this message whenever I try connecting to the address I had set up in the options menu.
I know next to nothing about virtualization and this is my first attempt at using vmware as I am trying to set up my own lab so that I can learn to use vmware and maybe install an evaluation copy of windows server 2012 to learn how to use Active Directory.
I have made sure that I am using the correct host name and ip address when trying to log in from the client and made sure the ESX host had network connectivity so I am not sure what else I can do. Please help
Can any one in this group help me in this Task.
Backup a VM without turning it off.
I'm looking at deploying 2 ESXi 6.5 servers (ProLiant DL380 Gen9) with locally attached storage.
My questions are:
- Can I configure the 2 hosts, so that If 1 node goes down the other node will run all the vm's until the other node is brought back online?
- Can I have the 2 nodes backup or mirror each other's local storage, so I don't need to introduce a separate backup solution?
hello,
I am new to using vRO and I was looking for a video or document on how to setup loops within the tool. I have used other orchestrator tools and there has always been a loop icon that could be dragged onto the canvas.
Thanks
VMWare announced the End of Availability (EOA) of VMware Data Protection (2149614).
This is quite disappointing, as many customers might have opted for using VDP after the announcement that VMware vSphere Data Protection Advanced became part of VMware vSphere (and did no longer require purchase of a separate license):
"Starting March 1, 2015, VMware vSphere Data Protection Advanced will be consolidated into VMware vSphere Data Protection ... All functionality available with vSphere Data Protection Advanced, previously available as a standalone product, is now included in VMware vSphere Data Protection 6.0."
If I understand it correctly, customers that are using VDP now need to change their backup policies and again need to purchase from VMWare:
"Beginning today, Dell EMC is offering you a complimentary migration to the more robust and scalable Dell EMC Avamar Virtual Edition."
Comments welcome!

Boa tarde,
I not sure what happen because i have done this done this update process on other machines. The raid controller's firmware can only be updated in a widows environment. So, I loaded windows and made the firmware update from a drive that is attached to the onboard SATA. The drive was remove and loaded esxi 6.5 and both local datastores where missing.
The raid controller's web interface show that the disk volumes were there and unaffected by the update.
esxcfg-scsidevs -c was showing the raid volumes also
I then ran the following command which shows the vmfs filesystem:
voma -m vmfs -f check -d /vmfs/devices/disks/naa.60026b903ecf8900207acd6e23602932
Checking if device is actively used by other hosts
Running VMFS Checker version 2.1 in check mode
Initializing LVM metadata, Basic Checks will be done
Phase 1: Checking VMFS header and resource files
Detected VMFS-6 file system (labeled:'210.ST.Raid-10') with UUID:58e81197-05964348-4e6f-0022192af848, Version 6:81
Phase 2: Checking VMFS heartbeat region
Phase 3: Checking all file descriptors.
Phase 4: Checking pathname and connectivity.
Phase 5: Checking resource reference counts.
Total Errors Found: 0
But when i ran the following command the filesystem was showing vfat :
esxcli storage filesystem list
Is there a way to fix the filesystem back to vmfs without losing the data or do i need to contact a data recovery company ?

Is there any resolution to this issue?
When using the webclient, we've noticed a difference when deploying a vApp OVA on 6.0 vs 6.5.
When deploying on 6.0, Step 1b. is 'Review details', and step 2a. is 'Select name and folder'. When selecting name and folder, the default string in the name field appears to come from the <Product> in the <ProductSection> of the template.
When deploying on 6.5, step 2. is 'Select name and location', and step 4. is 'Review details'. When selecting name and folder, the default string in the name field appears to be come from the filename of the OVA, rather than the <Product> in the <ProductSection> of the template.
I'm assuming that in 6.5, the filename is used since the <Product> is not known until step 4.
This is very minor, but we've had comments on this difference and we are looking for a way to fix it, aside from trying to tweak the ova filename.
Is this a plausible explanation and is there any way to fix it so both 6.0 and 6.5 behave the same with respect to the displayed default vApp name?
Thanks!
I'm trying to determine how Guest Introspection behaves to try and address some rather critical issues in our environment. We are running NSX 6.2.3 with a single NSX Manager and 3x controller nodes. Currently we are only using the Firewall portion of NSX along with a few Edge DHCP nodes. We decided against using fat clients on each VM for Antivirus protection and instead are using an NSX supported AV (Trend in our case) which means each of our clusters has Guest Introspection service deployed as well as the Trend service deployed from the Service Deployments NSX Manager screen.
My understanding on just the guest introspection piece is that the NSX Manager VM itself deploys the guest introspection vmdk to each host and and then the controllers take over what it reports into. This means that if the NSX Manager is rebooted or something happens to it, our VMs are still protected as this manager is not needed for guest introspection (or trend for that matter) to operate.
- Is that the correct understanding of how that works?
Now here is our issue. NSX Manager has been rebooted in the past while not causing any issues on any service deployments or NSX componment errors. Everything appears to work correctly during the reboot. However, our NSX Manager VM ran out of disk space and a ton of VMs stopped working. They were up and running but lost network connectivity and had to be restarted. We were able to replicate this and confirm this was related which is very worrysome. This tells me that NSX Manager can reboot but that hosts appear to be reporting into it perhaps due to some validation. The concern here is that if something happens with NSX Manager like this then that is a single point of failure for our environment.
Any feedback is much appreciated!
I'm trying to capture videos within VMware using Adobe Captivate 9 and while I'm able to successfully capture a movie and save it once, I am not able to retrieve it at a later time. For example, the movie is saved to a folder that I can access while logged into the VMware environment, I can see the file, but cannot get it to import into my Adobe Captivate project. Has anyone had success in doing this? Thanks. Lorraine
Hello,
Cannot upgrade VCSA 6.0 to VCSA 6.5
always on stage 2 i get this error:
Error
Internal error occurs during Export of vSphere ESX Agent Manager.
Resolution
Send upgrade log files to VMware technical support team for further assistance.
i found article https://kb.vmware.com/kb/2147898, but this article applied only to vCenter Server 6.0 installed on Windows
Sometime in the last week and a half my Chrome browser updated to 57.0.2987.110. Since then the option to login to the web GUI for vCenter server with Windows Session Credentials is grayed out.
I attempted to uninstall and reinstall the Client Integration Plugin with no luck.
When I go to help > about in the web GUI it shows the version of the plugin as 6.0.0 Build 4275819, which is correct with our current version of vSphere.
Is anyone else seeing this issue or have an idea of how to resolve it? I realize it's a minor annoyance, but it's a nice convenience to have.
Thanks,
Chris
I recently upgraded both my Mac OS to 10.12.4 and Vmware Fusion to 8.5.6. Since those upgrades I am now seeing strange background issues in Microsoft Outlook and Skype for Business (see the attached screenshot). The background of the application will at times turn black. I'm running windows 7 professional as my VM. Anyone else had an issue like this and know how to resolve them?
In the documentation it says you should remove server authentication when you create a CA template. However, our security department says this would be insecure. Can server authentication remain in the Application Policies on the template? Why would this need to be removed?
I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this odd situation: We are running View 5.2.0 agent with Windows 7 x64 on a 5.3 server and use Wyse P24/45 zero clients for the users desk. Each desk has (so far) two monitors. Everything is fine, however in some situations when a user locks their workstation to walk away, it will lock but still display a static image on the secondary monitor of whatever was open there at the time of lock. So for instance, if a user had cnn.com open on the right (secondary) monitor when they lock, that page is still visible, while on the left (primary) monitor the standard
CTRL-ALT-DEL screen is shown. The page (or whatever is still visible) is in no way interactive, and since the image is static, even if the page auto-refreshes you will only ever see the content as it appeared when the machine was locked. When the user unlocks, both screens go black as they normally do and then display current content.
Has anyone else seen anything like this? It's not the biggest of deals, however it would be a security concern if a user left a sensitive document up on their secondary monitor, and locked their workstation to walk away.
This is from a previous post that has gone stale, but the wording of it fits my exact issue. I have changed the specs to fit my situation:

It seems to be sporadic, to reproduce it has been hard at best.
