I don't use VM workstation often, is there an easy way to stop VM workstation services/processes from automatically starting? I used to set VM-related services to manual and disable auto start processes. But sometimes I don't remember which ones I have changed....

Intel Pro/100 Support/Driver ?
Hello,
I built a personnal ESXi server (5.1) at home on my old PC (Asus P5E)
I used ESXi-Customizer to integrate a vib file I found on the net to have my Marvell NIC work correctly when I installed.
I just added an Intel Pro/100 card I had and it seems the server doesn't see it.
When I lspci -v, this is what I get:
00:04:02.0 Ethernet controller Network controller: Intel Corporation EtherExpress PRO/100 S Desktop Adapter
Class 0200: 8086:1229
I've been searching for the last hour for something to make it work, but no luck.
Does anyone know if it's still possible to have a Intel 100Mbit card work in ESXi 5.1? (I read they removed support for 100Mbit cards in 4.x)

View Client ask for password twice
Hi all,
Hoping that some of you could help me out.
We are looking to deploy Horizon View Client v3 or above. However the issue we have is the client asks for the users password twice, first it asks to connect to connection server, once authenticated, the list of desktop pools appear. Once I select one to get access, it then asks for password again. This never happens with the older 5.4 client.
Looking to see if anyone has any guidance.......
We have Horizon 6.0 deployed across to 2700 desktops.

Unable to login into the Physical host in Server 2008 R2 Standard with VMWare
I can RDP into two VM's.
I can't figure out how to connect to the physical server.
I have the IP, Name of Host however when I check the Device Manager under disk drives it shows 2 VMware Virtual disk SCSI Disk Devices and not the physical hard drive.
The IT who setup this server disappeared, I am trying to help a friend with this issue.
Any ideas?

ESXi 5.1 managed by vCenter 6.0
This is our setup:
A vCenter 6.0 running on a ESXi 6.0.
We have another ESXi host running 5.1, and would like this host to be managed from the vCenter 6.0
When adding the host to the cluster the following error is produced:
The VMware vSphere 5 Hypervisor license for Host [HOSTIP] does not include vCenter agent for VMware host. Upgrade the license.
The licenses for the ESXi 6.0 server are:
VMware vCenter Server 6 Essentials
VMware vSphere 6 Essentials (unlimited cores per CPU)
The licenses for the ESXi 5.1 server is:
VMware vSphere 5 Hypervisor Licensed for 1 physical CPUs (unlimited cores per CPU)
What is required for the ESXi 5.1 to be managed by the vCenter Server 6.0?

KB3161608 (KB3161639) breaks vSphere Client inventory search
vSphere Client and vCenter Server 5.1.
On Windows 7 SP1, after installing Microsoft KB3161608 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3161608 (this is a rollup the actual kb is KB3161639 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3161639) there is a problem searching with the vSphere Client:
- The error message is:
Login to the query service failed.
An SSL error occurred, (The Request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel.)
- Also, Event ID 36888 (Schannel) is raised:
The following fatal alert was generated: 40. The internal error state is 808.
- Browsing with IE to https://vcenter_server:10443 returns:
This page can’t be displayed
while in Chrome it returns a valid response
Uninstalling KB3161608 fixes all of the above.
Has anyone else noticed it? any workaround?

Fixed host HA within single cluster
Hi all,
If I have a single cluster with 4 hosts:
- Host A
- Host B
- Host Y
- Host Z
Can I set HA to work only between specific hosts?
i.e.:
Host A and B can only HA with each other - VMs on these hosts will not touch Y and Z
Host Y and Z can only HA with each other. - VMs on these hosts will not touch A and B
I know I can accomplish this by using 2 clusters, but I'm looking for a single cluster solution for this.

ESXi 6 wrong root password on SSH and in the ESXi shell
Hi!
I have a serious issue since two days back. Two days ago I could use ssh to connect to my ESXi host. I use this for copying servers among other things.
Now if I try to access the host using SSH all I get is "Cannot connect: Wrong password" in my ssh client. I have stopped and started the ssh service but same result. I have tried with a different account that also has ssh access but same result.
When I tried to log on to the server using the ESXi Shell and logging in with the root account I get the same error. Now the strange thing is that if I log in using the vSpehere Client all works just fine. Same thing if I connect to the server using vSpehere PowerCLI.
So it is only ssh and the ESXi Shell that are blocked. Does anyone have any idé on how to solve this? I have tried this Root account of vCenter Server Appliance 5.5 and 6.0 is locked (2069041) | VMware KB but I can't even get into the GRUP bootloader. It is never displayed.

Urgent Help!!! one of my client meets - "the view agent reports that this desktop source is unable to accept connections"
Dear all,
one of my staff said she could not connect her desktop vm22 and the view client said "the view agent reports that this desktop source is unable to accept connections". my view administrator displays that “the pending session on machine xx for user xxx has been expired” . but i then assigned another user to the same desktop, everything looks fine.
background:
1. I am using view 6.0.
2. This user used to assigned another desktop vm06. it took a long long time (more than 30 minutes) to login (agent set not delete local persona) , This Morning when she tried to connect(already logged in before, here just reconnect), she got "there is no available gateway for this display protocol". So i assigned her to another desktop vm22
Is there something wrong with this user account or something else. Need your help!!! Thanks in advance!

Persona not saving pinned items
If I pin something to my taskbar or start menu, it does not sync to persona. I'm just wondering if there's a setting i'm missing.
If I configure the Folder Redirection setting for Application Data, it works, but I have to have a second repository folder for this, as it will not save to the Username.V2 folder and creates another folder with just the username. I thought this was working for me during my pilot of View, with a different master image. I did not have this Folder Redirection setting set on my pilot.

Outlook Auto Account Setup doesn't work
Hi all,
Tried creating an App Stack with Office 2013 (also tried 2016 in a separate appstack).
When it attaches, Outlook "Auto Account Setup" does not automatically populate.
App Volumes 2.11, Horizon 7.02, Windows 7 SP1 + Updates
Normally this would populate (it does if installed into the golden master).
Any clues?

vSphere Web Client 5.5 - Error #2134
Hi
When starting vSphere Web Client on a standard PC with internet explorer 11 I get the following error:
An internal error has occurred - Error #2134.
Reloading the vSphere Web Client as suggsted does not solve the issue.
When launching vSphere Web Client on the vCenter server everything is ok. IE settings are the same
Does someone else experience this issue? What is the cause and is there a solution for it?

Monitor JVM of VCenter server
Hi,
We are planning to monitor the JVM of our VCenter server management application.
We are using Nagios in our organization and would like to know if we can Monitor using JMX since it doesn't support check_jvm on Windows.
As per my understanding, if we have to monitor using JMX, then the Java application should support JMX, (I'm new to JMX). So would like to know if it is possible to monitor. Any other possible solutions also, please let me know.We use Vcenter 6.0.0.18915

7.1 and bulk import blueprints.
I must be missing something here since the documentation just completely glosses over the creation of a blueprint for bulk imports.
I can make an empty blueprint, publish and assign rights to it. It's visible in the catalog, but the drop down in the bulk import wizard when specifying the blueprint is always empty.
Any clues, hints, or a how-to?
