Localhost HTML Client problem on Windows 10 and MacOS High Sierra

FYI, the HTML Client that comes with SDK 6.5 or 6.5u1 has problem with the latest Java JDK on Windows 10 and MacOS High Sierra.

The client home page doesn't come up and the browser console shows errors such as:

Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token )

clarity-angular1.min.js:38 Uncaught SyntaxError: missing ) after argument list

and

(anonymous) @ init.js:6

folder-ui.min.js:1 Uncaught ReferenceError: angular is not defined

 

The work-around for Windows 10 is to use Java SDK 1.8.0_144

We haven't found any work-around yet for MacOS High Sierra.  Let us know if you have one!

vRA 7.3 - Hide "Custom Properies" Tab on Reconfigure for Support role

Hi all,

 

In vRA 6.x, a user with support role couldn't see the "Properties" Tab for a VM in the Reconfigure Screen. Now, in vRA 7.3 they can see this tab.

 

Is there any way to hide that tab?

Can't connect host to vCenter

When trying to connect the latest ESXi 6.0 u3a to vCenter 6.0 u3c i'm getting an error: "A general system error occured: Timed out waiting for vpxa to start." I tried this:VMware Knowledge Base , but it didn't help.

The Console has been disconnected. Close this window and re-launch the console to reconnect

Hello,

I am using Mobile Watch list 1.5.020000 (2434393) and when I try to connect a VM running Ubuntu 14.04 desktop with the VMware tooIs installed get this error message. I am running ESXi 5.5. I am not connecting through VPN and I am on the same network as the server. I can connect just fine through the vSphere client installed on a desktop machine. There have been several questions about this and no answer.

From reading the posts I have opened the following ports to no avail:

902

7331

7343

443

9443

I also tried to forward all of these ports to port 80 on the server but that did not work either.

Can anyone give me an answer?

My question is .. do you introduce this protocol also in ESXI in standalone way?

vSphere Mobile Watchlist Console not working!

Installed vSphere Mobile Watchlist from Google Play Store. Connected to our vCenter server. Console does not work for VMs.

After launching the console, an error message reads "The console has been disconnected. Close this window and re-launch the console to reconnect".

Same behavior on different VMs. Same behavior on Galaxy Tab 4 and Galaxy Note 3. Please fix!

 

Also, the "Send email as HTML" setting does not work. It place the HTML code in the email but the email format is still text, not html.

How to controll UDP via UI from a Linux with VMware Horizon Client (version 4.5.0)?

Hello everybody,

 

I'm trying to do all the test cases related to "6a. Horizon Client for Linux Test Cases (VMware Blast Extreme)" from the "Horizon Clients Certification Guide v14.12"

 

For the '6a.36 LnxClient-Blast: Controlling UDP via UI', UDP Setting should be controllable and work as expected when making changes in the Client UI,

 

 

The problem is that I don't see this on the Settings, where I can only verify H.264 so far.

 

After repeating all the steps described on this test and checking everything on the View Connection Server, View Administrator and Agent machine, I still don't get this as an Option in the Client UI.

 

Does anyone know why?

10Gbit Issue with network Card.

Hi,

 

I am using a 10Gbit network card installed in 3 servers in order to setup vSAN and vMotion, I am using two Ethernet ports for Teaming and Failover. I am using three servers. The issue is that on one server on one port it stops at 1Gbit. I have tried to change ports and cables but the issue remain the same. The system recognize it at 10000Mbps but it does not let me to change it. In 10Gbit switch it is the only one that appears as orange instead of green.

 

Please check attached images for reference, I am using vSphere 6.5 6.5

General VMs briefly lose iSCSI storage connection question?

I am a new systems administrator here and we have 1 dedicated network switch (single power supply) for our iSCSI connections to our vSphere 6.5 hosts.

This switch is currently not connected to a UPS protected power source.  We've had two power cycles in this switch over the past two weeks, causing our Nimble storage to fail over to other controller, loss of iSCSI connections to hosts/VMs, etc.

 

Once the switch power is restored, the storage, hosts, and VMs recover and have encountered only minor issues.

 

Looking for comment/feedback:

I plan to power off this switch and move its power connection to a protected UPS one night next week.

I've suggested to management that would be better to gracefully power off VMs and power back on after the temporary brief iSCSI network outage.

Getting some pushback from management, especially considering the  minor impact from the previous two power offs of this switch.

 

Anyone have general feedback here and share their experience and consideration for this maintenance job?

Blank/Black Screen Console

Hi all,

 

I have a CentOS guest and get a blank/black screen when opening its console.  Has anyone seen this and know why this happens?  I know the guest is online and works as I can SSH into it.  I have a screenshot of what I'm talking about. 

 

Client version 1.21.0

ESXi version 6.5.0

vCenter appliance 6.5 with vDS question

I have a vCenter appliance 6.5 with vDS set up and total 9 ESXi hosts. I rebooted vCenter and two of the hosts lost ping for few seconds. It's no big deal, but very curious why only two ESXi hosts get that.

 

Any idea where to troubleshoot?

esxi vm shutdown or reboot stuck with In porogress status and high esxi CPU / log + video included

Hi

HP 8000 SFF

2 cpu 3000 / 6 MB cash

when shutdown VM it complete normal , but in case add any pci passthrough even builtin USB, then when try to shutdown or reboot VM stuck  with " In progress " status and complete after 80 minutes or more !

i tested various versions of Esxi and same issue exist

i noticed High CPU load after shutdown VM .. this happen in Stuck time " in progress" status , and back normal once shutdown done after 80 minutes

i tried also with esxi U3 + last patch update

Fusion 10 on MacOS High Sierra won't run any VM

Hi,

I've just installed Fusion 10 today on High Sierra (final release). Ever since I did so, I haven't been unable to run any of my VMs.

The error is always the same "Cannot find a valid peer process to connect to". I've tried to create new VMs but the end result is the same.

Any help appreciated.

Enabling DPDK on vSphere

Hello.

I have two vSphere servers with Virtual Machines able to generate traffic. They have DPDK mode enable and I would like to know how can I enable the DPDK mode on my vSpheres.

I was trying this command through SSH connection:

set system setting dpdk-pkt-io on

But I got no answer.

Evaluate text file on GuestVM (Windows 10)

I have a workflow that will continuously runs a file, reboots the VM, runs the same file, reboots the vm, etc.  In this loop, I need to place a way to evaluate a log file.  I am looking for a single line in the log file (this is a log file that gets appended during the execution of the file that gets run automatically).  If the evaluation does not return the string I am looking for,  it will continue with the loop;  if it does find the string, I want the workflow to stop.  How can I do this thru Orchestrator?  So, the workflow will look

 

1.)  run file

2.) test for string

3a) If string does not exist in file, reboot vm and Go to Step1

3b)  If string does exist in file, stop workflow

 

 

How can I accomplish this?  Thanks

MSCS nodes Storage Vmotion

Hi Experts,

 

I have a 2 node MS SQL cluster which are running on ESXi 6.5 . It follows the standard architecture of BUS sharing SCSI controller and physical mode RDM disks .

The base Windows OS disk ( VMDK ) is on the NFS datastore and all other RDM disk pointers are on a SAN datastore . Now I have a requirement of moving the base windows OS VMDK to new NFS datastore . Generally I do these kind of operations after taking a outage and removing the RDM disks then storage migrate only the OS then re-attach the RDM and power on the VMs . This is taking too long time to complete and alot of manual efforts when there are too many RDM disks .

Are there any new options available ? If I power off both cluster nodes and then try storage migrate in advance mode only selecting the OS VMDK and keeping all the RDM pointers as it is helps ?

Question about Restoring NSX

Have been reading the admin guide and cannot find the answer.

 

I am backing up NSX every hour to FTP.

The guides all say that you can restore just an edge services gateway. YOu have to restore the full NSX configuration.

 

Lets say i have 10 ESGs all servicing different areas of my business. One of those ESGs needs to be restored due to misconfiguration or some other scenario where we cannot get it back online or passing traffic properly.

 

If i do the full ftp restore of NSX to NSX Manager will any of my other ESGs or Logical Switches be affected if they have had no changes made? Basically will my other areas of business take an outage while the restore is happening?

 

I have to image not. How to service providers do it? IT would be unacceptable to take a full outage or even a blip in service while a restore happens for 1 customer.

IT would make sense to me that a full restore, which is the only supported restore in NSX, would lose any changes since the last backup and you may need to "resync" but what about an outage during the restore process.
