Hi, does anyone have a time estimate for a VSAN datastore upgrade from version 2 to 3? Take a 5 host cluster, 40TB datastore, 50% full - are we talking minutes or hours?
Also, is there any way to tell how much free space is needed as it evacuates each disk group?

I am trying to install VM workstation pro 12.5.1 on to a windows 10 build 1607 (14393.0) x64 machine.
The host machine is brand new, windows freshly installed, and not running any VMware software.
During installation, I get an error with 2 specific file installs:
- USB inf file
- hcmon driver
After the failures, the VM installation does a rollback and hence doesn't install.
Anyone see this or have a solution?
Appreciate any help or guidance.

I´ve created a workflow which is called during the vRA Machine Provisioned state.
The workflow starts with:
var resources = vCACCAFEEntitiesFinder.findCatalogResources(vRAHost);
vRAHost is a vCACCAFE:VCACHost type.
1) If it runs directly from Orchestrator, it works.
2) If it runs through vRA call, it does not work.
A System.log(resources) showed me this:

That is the name of the workflow, the action and the execution timestamp. It appears to be the workflow token information. I see this and I go all "What the...?"
Just as an additional test, I re-run the failed token, the INPUTs are filled in with what was provided by vRA and IT WORKS JUST FINE!!!
I tried running this piece of code through an action, Scripted Task and the behavior is always the same.
Has anyone seen anything like it before? I just can´t grasp what is going on here.

Recently, about 1 year ago, I switched from MacOs to Linux because of El Capitan's regression upon it's predecessor.
When macOs Sierra came out, I gave it a try and all problems were solved, so I kept it...
But of course wanted to keep an eye on Linux.
So I took Fusion 8.5, installed it and set-up my favourite Linux distro.
Everything works quite well with no hangs or problems...
Until I decide to quit VMWare.
When I quit it almost ALWAYS ejects my USB hard drives, even though they aren't used by any VM used :-(
Which is quite annoying because those hard drives do host some VM running on Virtual Box :-(
And those are used as server VM's for people to reach it from outside.
So this is a real bug for me.
Anyone else has it ?
Is VMWare aware of it and is a patch to be expected ?

After I made the upgrade of our VIO from 2.5 to 3.0 I could not login as AD user any more. Login as local admin works, but it seems that the connection to the AD failed, because I cannot see any users and groups from the domain.
Also I lost all projects from the old installation. All I can see are entries like this: "183b1ca6787b4e2c8e78011f3c866eef (Deleted)" in the WebGui under system overview.
does it makes sense to configure the AD connection again in the VC or does this destroy the projects completely?

I installed Windows Server 2008 R2 on VMWare ESXi 5.5 as File server but it has a serious problem. Windows memory used a lot and my VM crashed. I updated Windows too and all Hotfixes are installed but problem exist. It is a problem in RPCSS. Any idea to solve it?

Over the past year, my VM box will crash at random times, sometimes months apart. I was on 5.5 and now am running 6.0. The NUC is a 5i7 with 32GB RAM and the datastore is on a Synology NAS.
When this crashes, for some reason I am unable to ping anything on my network. As soon as the NUC is restarted, everything is fine. It's strange, but I am more interested in tracking down why ESXi is crashing in the first place.
The PSOD tells me Machine Check Exception: Fatal MCE on PCPU3 in world 1388527:vmm0:Visual_
System has encountered a hardware error......
I have a VM named "Visual Studio 2012 - 32 bit" and I am only guessing that error is referring to that VM.

I appeared for the VCXN 610 exam yesterday and i am really upset with the way my exam went. First of all with great difficulty i got a seat for the exam. Wherein i had to travel cross country to appear for it. The real dilemma was the Lab was toooo slow to be true. A single click would take atleast 15 - 20 seconds to appear. The lab hangs in between, mine hanged at least 5 times. With that being said i was unable to complete the entire exam and was very frustrating even when you want to trouble shoot.
I am Dual CCIE in (R&S, DC) and i hold other certifications such as CEH, ITIL v3 & RHCE. Never in my entire career i have expeienced a CBT (Computer Based Exam) this slow. I was actually getting reminded of my childhood (Dial-up internet days).
First i thought the problem was with the center i selected. But i read a lot of reviews post exam from folk across the globe and many had the same problem.
VMware, you should really fix this. I understand you want to expire this certification. But this is not way guys. Please make sure the exams across the globe get the same speed as we practise in your HOL sessions. My 2 cents.

In my environment i have automated the back up of my NSX Manager every week once to the FTP server.
So every week once the NSX manager backup is taken & stored in my FTP server.
My question is when the backup is taken will the copy of the backup will remain in the NSX manager also or the backup data is only exported to the FTP server.
The reason for asking this is because, since the backup schedule happens every week, if the backup data is getting stored locally in the NSX Manager its disk utilization will increase & will cause high utilization.

I have got VROPS Version 6.3.0.4276418 in my environment. There is no other use case available in my VROps.
I am running NSX Version 6.2.2 & planning to upgrade to version 6.2.4
Would like to know if any one faced any kind of issue or challenges when upgrading to the version 6.2.4
Also let me know is it recommended to upgrade to version 6.2.4
Assume I don't want to let VMware Workstation/Player do the job and install VmWare Tools but do it manually by myself.
So at first I need a download page where I can get ALWAYS the newest VMWare Tools ISO packages.
Again: I am NOT searching for an URL which shows the CURRENT newest Tools package but a more general, generic URL which points always (even in the future)
to the newest package.

then this download URL is outdated since the newest Tools package is (at least v10.0.5

Server: ProLiant DL160 G9
SAN: VNC VNXe1600
Software:
Vsphere client 6.0.0
I get an issue after a restart of our datastore SAN VNC VNXe1600.
It doesn't recognise the SAN in datastore.
The fiber channel are connected correctly and I can add the storage but this will format the drive.
On my VNXe I can see that files are still on the SAN and is connected with the Host. We get the VNC support and on their side the SAN have no issue
Have you an advice or a solution ?

we run vSphere 5.1 (vCenter is 5.1 update 01) on hosts and have current VMware Tools installed. On Windows Server 2012 guests the mouse cursor does not get automatically released when you move the mouse cursor out of the virtual machine console. This is only on Windows Server 2012, on 2003/2008/2008R2 the mouse gets released automatically. We don't work that much with the console, but it's still annoying. Does anyone know what changed or how to fix this? Please let me know!

After installing VIO 3.0, I created the network part successfully, but when I wanted to launch an instance, I saw that there is no hypervisor detected at Horizon level, Has a procedure to follow in order to add a hypervisor.
1-when i want to restart the nova-compute i have that issue :

Hope someone can give me some pointers here.
We have an ESXi 5.1 host connected to an HP switch, but due to shoddy planning, the ESX host has only one NIC. The problem now is that I've been tasked with connecting a VM on this ESX host to a certain VLAN (let's call it 18), with the other VMs connected to the default VLAN (1).
I've been trying to test and simulate this as far as I can, but unfortunately due to not having a test environment whatsoever (see previous mention of shoddy planning), I'm forced to test this on a live environment.
From what I understand, I need to create a new vSwitch and assign VLAN 18 to it, with the port that the ESX host connects to needing to be configured as a TRUNK port with VLANs 18 (tagged) and VLAN 1 (untagged). What I'm not sure about at all though is can I have multiple vSwitches attached to the same NIC, each with its own unique VLAN? Would this cause any issues?
Is there anything else I need to keep an eye out for that I'm not considering?

The datastore is vSpare local host and show inaccessible or inactive on web client but on vSpare vcenter showe that it is normal.
The host is running normal and no error event log.
Any advise to fix the warning on web client? It is vmware 5.5.
