VMware Horizon View Client - Display Resolution Issue

Environment

 

VMware Horizon Agent: 7.9.0 (a fairly recent upgrade)

Display adapters: VMware SVGA 3D

Protocol: BLAST

Monitors: dual - both 1920 x 1080

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (Version 6.1, Build 7601: Service Pack 1)

 

Hardware

 

Thin client: Dell Wyse 5070 Celeron

Monitors: various

 

We have noticed an issue whereby our users are locking their virtual desktop session and after a period of inactivity (usually a minimum of 15 minutes), they return to find that the default resolution has changed from 1920 x 1080 to an incorrect setting (in the examples given, this was 1400 x 1050).

 

Essentially, a dual screen display is reduced to a partial single screen.

 

The Desktop Pool settings on VMware Horizon 7 Administrator confirms the following:

 

 

Users of older Wyse terminal models (e.g. Dell Wyse 5060) utilising the PCoIP display protocol are unaffected.

 

However, older terminals plus BLAST also results in the same ill resolution behaviour.

 

We intend to upgrade to Windows 10 in the near future.

 

In the meantime, we need to continue to support all devices.
