Hello,
We are running a 5.5 environment with the latest patches/updates. We've got 30TB VM that had an ongoing backup job using a physical Netvault server. The host that the VM was running on was accidently restarted at the time...long story short we're stuck with the snapshot that the backup server created but was unable to remove. This is a mission critical VM that can't afford any data loss.
I went through the vmkfstools -D step and found the host that was holding the lock as well. This VM is connected to several different datastores, but I'm specifically looking at the location of the parent disk. Anyhow I'm out of ideas at this point and help would be greatly appreciated!
I've tried:
Restarting management agents on hosts
Restart the backup server
Creating new snapshot then deleting all (twice)
unregistered the VM and re-register
vMotion to different host
I can't do a full storage vmotion because we don't have enough space
can't clone because no space
used esxcli vm process list to terminate the VM
